Seattle Housing Authority assigned Section 8 Waitlist Lottery positions

HCV Program Manager Jodell Speer announced that positions have now been assigned to the 2013 Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program Waitlist and that notification letters will be mailed this week letting all registrants know if they are on the 2013 waitlist. Seattle Housing Authority received close to 24,000 registrations and 2,000 of those were randomly selected to be placed on the waiting list.

Unfortunately, due to federal budget cuts that went into effect on March 1st, Seattle Housing Authority are unable to begin issuing vouchers to the new waitlist for the foreseeable future. They stated that they will be posting updated information about the status of the waitlist on their website at http://www.seattlehousing.org. There will still be a position on the waitlist for all 2,000 randomly selected households when they begin to issue vouchers again.

If your household registered for the lottery, you will receive a letter from us in the mail by the end of March letting you know whether or not your household was selected at random to be placed on our 2,000-household waitlist for Section 8 assistance.

If you have questions about the process or your submitted registration information, please call the waitlist hotline at 206-239-1674. Staff will be answering the hotline Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
